Commitment to Working Out - Finding Time to Exercise

Working out is usually something that you never have time to do. But in order to stay in good physical shape, maintain your body figure or to lose weight, it is essential to find the time to exercise.

The first thing you must do is commit yourself to exercising. The best time to schedule a fitness routine is in the morning. If you have a schedule, go to work or do other things in the morning, make a commitment to work out before you start these daily routines. If you do not think you can make the time to do it, start with 15 minute work outs (treadmill, stair stepper, walking outdoors, aerobics, etc) and slowly increase the amount of time you dedicate to working out each day. If you just start small and work you way up, you will find that it gets easier each and every day. After working out in the morning you will find that you have more energy when you start your day.

Here are some more ways to making daily work outs easier.

Test different times with your daily schedule to find out when you can get time to work out. Once it becomes a priority, it will then develop into a habit, once it is a habit, it gets easier.

Bypass the elevator or escalator and take the steps or stairs. Don’t spend five minutes looking for a closer parking space when you can easily park in a half way decent parking spot and walk the extra distance – that is added exercise – each day you add different physical activity to you routines, it becomes a subconscious habit.

Try to exercise on your lunch break. Look for a place to walk, see if your employer has a gym or join one join one that is close by.

If you watch TV all day, take the time to stretch or do aerobic activities in front of the TV – gives you a break from all the commercials.

Plan an activity before the day ends or on the weekend, like riding a bike, canoeing or join a team sporting event. There are adult basketball and softball leagues.

If you’re a stay at home mom or babysit kids, try to find a gym with a babysitting program or classes that the kids can attend while you are working out. Make sure it is something that the kids will. This also gives you a break.

No matter what or how you get your daily work out in, you will find that you have more energy and feel better about yourself if you can commit to working out. Commitment and dedication are the keys to keeping your workout schedule, then it just becomes a habit.
